Hot water vs cold water pressure washing! What is the difference? Lets first start out by saying I would for a Houston Pressure Washing Service. I have used both hot and cold water pressure washers and they both have their pros and cons. I am in favor of cold water but hot water is great for certain applications. Now let's get into it!

To start let's go in the cold water pressure washer. The cold water pressure washer is what most homeowners are used to. You can buy one at Lowes or Home Depot and they typically range from 200-500 dollars. This pressure washer is used mainly for one a year use and if it is properly maintained will last a couple of years. They are usually direct drive engines and have cheap pumps. The typical specs on the units are around 2.4 gallons per minute and 3000 psi. Contractor grade could water pressure washers are a whole different story. They have big name brand engines and are belt drive. These cold water pressure washers are normally around 4gpm to 10gpm and the PSI is roughly the same.

The cold water pressure washer is great for simple projects. They are cheaper and a lot smaller in size. The man con is that you will need to use detergents to properly clean most surfaces. Cold water will not kill mold spores and remove oil from surfaces.

Hot water pressure washers are normally bigger than cold water pressure washers. They do not sell homeowner models and usually cost three times as much as a cold water pressure washer. The typical have two fuel tanks and take gas in the pressure washer engine and diesel fuel in the water burner. They require more maintenance and cost more to repair. The one really big pro with hot water pressure washing is that in some applications you do not need deterrents. With a hot water pressure washer, you are also able to clean industrial and commercial equipment. This includes gas stations and big trucks.

In conclusion, you have the make the decision as to what is right for you and what you need for the cleaning project. I personally use cold water pressure washers and detergents on my projects. I am looking to add a hot water pressure washer to my arsenal in the near future. If you have any questions or concerns please leave them in the comments. Thanks!
